How does Subject mode know what the subject is?

A small person-detection model runs locally in your browser, labels what is a person and what is background. No images leave your machine.

My clip is not a person, what should I use?

Saliency. It pulls the matte from edge density, so it works on cars, products, animals, anything with local contrast against a flatter background.

Why no chroma-key (green-screen) mode?

Chroma-key needs you to have shot against a screen. The three sources here all work on footage that was never set up for keying.

Does the export keep my source frame rate?

Yes. A 60fps source exports at 60fps.

Keyer

Keyer pulls the subject out of your clip three ways: by brightness, by edge density, or by detecting a person. Show Matte previews the cut. Duplicate Overlay drops a scaled, blended copy of the subject back over the original, for echo, focal-point doubling, ghost-twin shots, or to prep a plate for another compositor.

Tips

Subject mode loads a small model the first time you use it. Run it on a test frame once before exporting.
Choke erodes or dilates the matte. ±0.05 covers most clips.
Soft Edge feathers just the matte, the rest of the frame stays sharp.
Duplicate Overlay with Screen blend at 70% and scale 1.5x gives a clean subject-echo without ruining the composition.
