Face Wireframe: Retro Sci-Fi Mesh Over Faces

The Face Wireframe tool detects faces in your video and draws a retro wireframe mesh over them in real time. Three style presets give you the visual grammar of the machines: Terminator red, Matrix green, or Cyan Scan teal.

What you get

A face-tracked wireframe that follows the subject through the clip. The mesh sits on the face geometry and moves with it. Terminator gives the red-line tactical overlay look of a machine learning a target. Matrix gives the green monochrome wireframe familiar from late-90s and early-2000s sci-fi. Cyan Scan gives a cooler blue-teal tone closer to medical scan or holographic display aesthetics.

When to reach for it

Use Face Wireframe when:

How to use it

Step 1: Upload a clip with clear face visibility

Open Face Wireframe and drop in your footage. The tool works best on clips where at least one face is well-lit, facing toward camera, and not obscured by heavy shadow or motion blur. A talking-head shot, a performer in medium close-up, or a direct-to-camera moment all work well.

Step 2: Pick a preset

Three presets define the color and mood of the wireframe:

Step 3: Adjust mesh density (if available)

The mesh density setting controls how many points and lines the wireframe draws over the face geometry. A lower density gives a sparse, stylized wireframe. Higher density fills the face with finer lines, pushing toward a more technical or data-rich read.

Step 4: Set opacity

The opacity slider controls how opaque the wireframe overlay is over the original footage. At full opacity the wireframe is bold and clear. Lower values let the original image show through the mesh, creating a ghosted composite.

Step 5: Export

Click Export MP4 to render. The wireframe is composited on top of the video and baked into the export.

FAQ

What if the face is not tracked cleanly?

Face tracking works best in well-lit, clear conditions. If the face is in heavy shadow, at an extreme profile angle, or moving very fast, tracking may drop or shift. Use stable, lit close-up shots for the most consistent result.

Does it track multiple faces?

Yes, if multiple faces are clearly visible in the frame, the tool tracks and meshes all of them. Group shots with faces spread across the frame give a data-overlay read.

Can I combine it with other effects?

Yes. Stacking Face Wireframe with Datamosh or Night Vision builds deeper sci-fi or surveillance composites. Apply Face Wireframe before a full-image effect so the mesh renders into the composite cleanly.
