How to Get the Yamborghini High Look

The Yamborghini High visual by A$AP Mob is one of the most recognisable uses of datamoshing on screen. Faces melt into each other, colours bleed across cuts, the whole thing reads as a corrupted file. You can land the same look in your browser.

The Look

The picture stops resetting between cuts. Motion from one shot keeps painting onto the next, so faces warp, backgrounds flow, and colours from scene A stain the shapes of scene B. Used to take hex-editing in Avidemux. Three taps here.

Step 1: Source Footage

The look needs:

• High-motion footage. Walking, dancing, camera pans. More motion, more dramatic melt.
• Scene cuts. The effect fires on transitions. Shoot in two locations and cut between them.

Step 2: Datamosh

Open Datamosh, drop your clip.

• Mode: I-Frame Drop. The classic move.
• Intensity: push hard for this one.
• Tint: none or slightly warm. The datamosh already brings the distortion.

Step 3: Push It Further

The visual carries moments of extreme contrast and colour distortion:

• Opium (Clean preset), ghost trails plus crushed blacks. The datamosh artifacts linger and smear.
• Cinematic LUT (Cyberpunk), colours push into neon territory.
• Inverse Strobe, raw black-and-white flash between frames.

Step 4: Loop Key Moments

The most memorable frames are mid-melt: half one face, half another. Use Stutter to grab and loop them. Ping-Pong pattern, short captures, a handful of repeats.

Tips

• Shoot with cuts in mind. The effect only fires on shot boundaries. Plan cuts for maximum contrast (close-up face, then wide landscape; dark scene, then bright).
• Run footage through Datamosh twice for more extreme melting.
• Apply datamosh to specific sections of your footage and keep other parts clean. The original visual alternates between normal and glitched.
• Degrade first with iPhone 2G. A lower-quality source gives chunkier artifacts.
• Add Motion Trails for a lingering ghost on face transitions.
