There is motion in almost every shot that you cannot quite see: a chest rising, fabric shifting, a held note trembling. Motion Amplify finds that motion and makes it obvious. A nearly still subject starts to breathe or sway, which reads as unsettling or dreamlike depending on how far you push it.
Band picks which motion to amplify: breath for a slow rise and fall, sway for body movement, tremor or vibration for fast micro-motion, or all for everything at once. Gain sets how far to push it. Start around 10 to 15. Push it too hard and the picture tears, so climb slowly.
The Uneasy breath preset amplifies a slow breath on the subject alone. The Beat-driven sway preset binds the amount to your track so the movement swells with the music.
On handheld footage, leave Ignore Camera Move on so the whole frame does not get amplified along with the subject. Use Region to gate the effect to the subject or the background alone. One thing to know: this works on the small, slow motion already in the shot, not on fast, large movement, which tears when magnified. Give it a locked-off or lightly handheld clip and it sings.
